Winter storms have been wreaking havoc across the world this winter. In the US, county officials announced Monday that at least 27 people have died in Erie County, New York, with parts of western New York remain buried in up to 43 inches of snow, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded and stranded during the Christmas holidays in a historic snowstorm. Rescue workers and hundreds of snowplow drivers were so out of their depth that even the rescue and recovery vehicles sent to help were stuck in the snow.

Meanwhile, heavy snowfall hit much of Japan, killing 17 people, injuring more than 90 and knocking out power to hundreds of homes, disaster relief officials said. A powerful winter front has brought heavy snowfall to northern regions since last week, slamming hundreds of vehicles on highways, delaying delivery services and causing several deaths.

Here are some ways to protect your family during unprecedented winter storms caused by climate change.

Keep the pipes running!

✅The longer the outside temperature stays below 20 degrees, the colder it gets inside the house. If the cold weather continues, the cold seeps into the water pipes and the pipes begin to freeze. Be proactive to avoid chaos and try to keep your home warm.
